The pleasure of photography also passes by the sharing. For this reason I created this site. It's also my way of discovering and of showing all the beauty of Nature and its inhabitants because it is of primary importance to become aware of the importance to preserve this heritage for the future generations.
I was born at the end of autumn 1964, in Valais/Switzerland and I can say that I lived all my youth years in the countryside. I liked to go to walk in nature and in great mountain spaces to escape but I did not carry particular interest to the inhabitants of Nature, only satisfying myself to respect them.
At the age of 12, I took my first steps in animalist photography by immortalize some chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra), lasting the winter period, with the Pocket-Instamatic Kodak which I had received for Christmas. During my teenager period, my camera always accompanied me to take pictures of mountain's landscapes, when I practised the alpinism or the cliff.
Then, I "exiled myself" to Geneva to work, I became a towndwellet with the passing years. The ballades in mountain decreases and my interest for the alpinism finally disappeared. For special occasions and holidays, I always had a camera with me to bring back memories to be divided with the others. My last "35mm camera" was a Canon EOS 100.
In twenty years, I had almost forgotten nature and all that it had brought to me in my youth...
In 2004, a flash occurred and it's when the CANON 20D arrived, that I renew with naturalist photography. Since, I compensate for my lack of knowledge by devouring guides, handbooks and all that brings me closer with Nature and its inhabitants.
Some images are the fruit of hazardous encounter, at the time of walking ramble. For the others, it is the product of long hours of observations, under a tent of camouflage, to await the passage of the animal... It is indeed the price to pay to make animalist photography, by respecting to the maximum the subject photographed and its natural environment.
I work with numerical material. I use a CANON 20D with a zoom CANON EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM. For animalist photography, I utilize a zoom CANON 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM and I also use a CANON 500mm f/4L IS USM, sometimes in combination with a CANON extender 1.4x II. For the hiding place, I use a GITZO tripod in combinaison with a DIETMAR head.
